What to expect
Your journey begins by travelling from Hanoi on the iconic, colonial built railway that winds north along the Red River valley towards the Chinese border. Departure will see you exit the hustle and bustle of the city and whisk you to a world or mountains, forests, rice terraces and ethnic minority hill tribes. The train cabins are surprisingly luxurious, with mattresses, blankets, air conditioning and light refreshments provided.
On arrival at the train terminal in Lao Cai city, you will be met by our driver and start a vertical accent of over 1km, up into the clouds. Breakfast and shower facilities are in our community centre where you will meet your guide and get an overview and historical context of the area.
The tour begins in the vibrant and colourful Sapa market where you be free to choose from a selection of fresh local foods, foraged goods under the guidance of your translator. Trekking begins in a quiet valley, rich in culture and surrounded by magnificent mountains. Lunch will be together with a tribal family and you are welcome to help with the preparation and cooking on an open fire.
Our network of tradition family homestays are both authentic and welcoming. Spending quality time with your host family is the most fun incredible way of learning about local culture from the experts.
Trekking on day two is also flexible, before a taxi honey to Sapa, quick shower and the connection to your VIP bus back to Hanoi.
