Special Interest Tours - Textiles Tours
"We are both works of art and artists at work."
Be amazed at the beauty of the mountains and the colour and diversity of its textiles and its hill tribe village and markets. This once in a life time opportunity takes you off the tourist trails of Vietnam and into the remote and beautiful mountains of the North-West. With stops at remote villages and colourful ethnic markets this tour gives you the opportunity to see Vietnam's unique ethnic minority groups, meet with local women and experience their amazing cultures and their diverse and vibrant costumes.
Travel north to Sapa where we spend time learning about the intricacies of the Red Dao embroidery with a group of local ladies, visit a Black Hmong village to learn about how they make their gorgeous hemp fabrics and visit the remote Muong Hum ethnic market.
From Sapa town we travel deep into the mountains of the north west. Along the way we visit the colourful Lu minority with their gorgeous tapestry skirts and the Black Dao and Sewing Dao Dao with their huge black turbans and richly embroidered trousers. As we get closer to the Chinese border area we see even more diverse ethnic groups. We travel through White Hmong communities where some of the women still wear traditional bleached hemp skirts and brightly braided jackets, and see the amazing 'big hair' Red Hmong and Flower Hmong with their standout black pointed cone hats, and the colourful Ha Nhi, Si, La Hu and Thai minority groups.
