The Hue Imperial Citadel was constructed in 1804 and was home to the Nguyen Dynasty – Vietnam’s last royal dynasty for 143 years. The entire complex boasted of 148 buildings, which were severely damaged during the French Colonial period and the Vietnam War. This included the emperor’s palace, the giant gates, temples and even pagodas.
