Background:
On arrival in Sapa, we can highly recommend getting a taster of what the area has to offer. We offer a special half day walking option that covers a distance of approximately 4.5km.
What to expect:
There are two route options, the first covering a distance of approximately 4.5km on mostly paved surfaces. This walk climbs from an altitude of 1000 metres up to about 1350 metres, meaning the route is all uphill. The second option involves extending to 5.5km, with the last kilometre over buffalo trails. Shoes with good grip are essential for this second option.
Both routes take in some of Sapa’s steepest and most spectacular rice terraces, as well as beautiful little Hmong hamlets scattered across the mountain side. There are views of ancient bamboo forests and part of the route loops past one of the highest suspension bridges in Vietnam
Between June and October it may be possible to stop for a swim on a sunny day.
